Welcome – Follow along with us as we Discover Bats in Ohio
Though our website is just launching today, this, nature, preservation, ecology, outdoors, is a lifelong passion of mine. Technically we started the adventure in July of 2023, and Discover Bats Ohio LLC officially became “our name” in June of 2024, the website took a while. Why you ask? Because over 55 lectures to over 3,200 adults and children, and almost 200,000 bat recordings from various projects got in the way. After a couple college degrees, and several unrelated jobs throughout my life, the one constant since I was a small child, was a complete love for the outdoors. And though it has taken awhile, I could not be happier landing here. Why bats? Because as we constantly say amongst ourselves as we learn or discover yet another amazing thing about bats is, “Bats… who knew,” that they could be so truly amazing. Come along with us as we share our fascination for these creatures, the ones that live all around us, amazing things about them, what they do for us, and what we can do for them. When you notice the time, jump up, and head outside at dusk to look at the sky, and jump with excitement when the first one flies by, you are on your way. When you realize the billions of dollars, in helping to control agricultural pests, you are on your way. When you realize how biologically unique, in disease resistance, anti-aging, diabetes management and metabolism, no hearing loss, and more… you are on your way. When you realize all the challenges they face, you are on your way. Come along with us. We hope you become as engaged and excited about our little night fliers as we are.
